Yellowstone vacation ideas

Longer stays, planned with you

Here for a week? We don't sell set vacation packages: we help you build one. Start from one of these sample 5-day plans, then call us and we'll fit it to your family.

Rafts on the Yellowstone River in a wide green valley

Sample plans

Two ways to spend five days

One includes a couple of nights with us, one doesn't. Mix and match: every trip can be booked on its own.

About lodging: lodging only comes with two trips, a night at our riverside camp on the Overnight Raft Trip and the ranch night on the 3-Day Adventure. For the other nights, you book your own place in or near Gardiner.

Plan one

With two nights out with us

The ranch, the river camp, a park day and fishing.

  1. Day 1

    Arrive at the ranch

Start the 3-Day Yellowstone Adventure in the afternoon: an evening ride, the cowboy cookout and a night at Hell's A-Roarin' Ranch.

    Ranch night included
  2. Day 2

    Ride, then the river

A morning ride and lunch at the ranch, then the Overnight Raft Trip: an afternoon on the Yellowstone and a night at our riverside camp.

    Camp night included
  3. Day 3

    River morning, free afternoon

Raft 14 more miles after a pancake breakfast at camp, then take the afternoon off in Gardiner.

    Your own lodging
  4. Day 4

    Yellowstone's northern side

A day in the park on your own: Mammoth Hot Springs is just up the road from Gardiner, and Lamar Valley is a morning drive for wildlife.

    Your own lodging
  5. Day 5

    Fly fishing

A half or full day of Yellowstone fly fishing with a guide, walk and wade in the park or float the river.

Plan two

Day trips, your own lodging

Stay where you like and do a different trip each day.

  1. Day 1

    The 8-Mile Raft Trip

Settle in, then raft the 8-Mile in the afternoon, right from our shop.

  2. Day 2

    Paddle & Saddle Express

Ride in the morning and raft by lunch on the Paddle & Saddle Express, then spend the afternoon in the park.

  3. Day 3

    A park day

Head into Yellowstone through the North Entrance for the day. Mammoth Hot Springs is close; Lamar Valley is a morning drive.

  4. Day 4

    The 18-Mile Raft Trip

Bigger water in Yankee Jim Canyon and lunch on the river on the 18-Mile, back by early afternoon.

  5. Day 5

    A ride and the cookout

Fish in the morning, or relax, then a sunset ride and steak dinner at the Cowboy Cookout.

Good to know

Planning a longer stay

Do you sell week-long vacation packages?

Not as a set package. We build longer stays with you around what your family loves, then book each trip. Call or text us and we'll plan it together.

Is lodging included?

Only with two trips: the Overnight Raft Trip includes a night at our riverside camp, and the 3-Day Yellowstone Adventure includes the ranch night too. For the other nights, book your own place to stay in or near Gardiner.

Can we change the days around?

Of course. These are examples. Tell us your dates, who is coming and the ages of your kids, and we will fit the trips around your park days.

When should we plan a longer stay?

The sooner the better for the overnight trips: they book up from March. Our season runs about May 15 to August 31.
